New York Sidetrip

On our way to Germany my mom and I had a

13 hour layover in Newark. Instead of

spending our day locked up in the airport

we decided to take the train in to Penn

Station. This was about my 3rd or 4th time

going to New York City but I had never been

able to go to the Statue of Liberty, so that is

the first thing we did. It was a beautiful

sunny day and we had a great time. Then we

walked around ground zero, stopped by a cathedral

and went to China town, little Italy, and Canal

Street. The best part about it all was that

I lost my wallet and didn't realize it until we

were in the cab going back to the station. We

turned around and retraced our steps through China

town and canal street and were about to give

up when I got a voice mail from my dad, my

roomate Cassie, a New York City police officer,

and Discover Card all saying that my wallet

was waiting for me at the 5th precinct

downtown. After our cabbie was lost we

were finally able to make it to the police

station, pick up the wallet, and book it to

airport. We made it just in time to hop on

the plane. It was a great little adventure.
